Story Review: A Husband's Revenge

A Husband's Revenge by Helena Troy is not a bad little story for someone wishing to kill a little time. And when I say kill, I mean you need to have absolutely nothing of value to do during this time, because then reading this story would be a waste. In this particular case the author took a very well worn and tired plot and took things in a direction I didn't expect. Of course the main reason I didn't expect it was because only a wuss would do what the main character did. What an unbelievable plot!

First of all, kudos to Steve (the main character) who kept cool in the face of finding his brother screwing his wife. But not only did he control his anger, he left the apartment/house and let them keep going. Gotta hand it to him...not even a phone call to interrupt the coitus. Wow. And then he swore to get revenge on both his brother and wife. Hold on, let me check the story again. Wait. Where's the revenge on the brother? Did I miss that? Is it going to be a sequel? Part II? No further mention of Jeff...I guess he got off scott free...well... at least we know he got off...in Steve's wife, right?

Now let's examine Steve's punishment of his wife Meg. He took her to the woods, made love to her (not even brutal love or ravishment) and then went and tied her to a tree and acted like a closet voyeur and watched two OTHER guys RAPE and BEAT his wife. Steve is sick. I can't even understand why he was upset his brother was doing it to her. Obviously he likes to "WATCH" rather than "ACT", so shouldn't Steve have just told his brother, "Oh yeah, and you should whip her too and I'll tape it" and hide in the back bedroom? I mean seriously, HE TOOK HIS WIFE TO THE WOODS SO SOME STRANGERS COULD DO HER WHILE HE WATCHED! Is that not screwy and totally backward from why he was mad at her in the first place? That doesn't make any sense. If plot holes were pot holes my car would fall in this one.

Yeah, just like this. Read story. Fall in HERE.

Another issue is Meg and her behavior. Obviously she's a closet submissive who likes or at least tolerates being beaten. That's obvious from her behavior with the two strange guys. But the author really doesn't explain her desires which makes the reader say "huh? She's okay with what her husband just did to her? She's not planning on running him over with a Mercedes for this? I don't get it." Ah...if only every rape turned a woman into a blubbering submissive who would allow any and every man to do whatever they wanted to her. Yeah right, and I wouldn't want that even if it could happen. It just was a little to pat. If I were Steve I'd be checking the household supply of rat poison every day and making sure my morning coffee didn't have a nice almond flavor in it. (Arsenic tastes like almonds you know.)

So, now that we've perforated the story, lets take a look at the writing. To be honest, it wasn't bad at all, in fact, especially in comparison with a lot of the crap on the BDSM Library, it was actually really good. There were no glaring errors, the format was well done, and the action moved along nicely. I could have done with a bit more description. I still have no idea what Meg looks like so I envisioned Meg looking like Alison Angel, which certainly improved the story dramatically.

The nice thing is that a little bit of Alison improves everything.

All the other sets were described so sparingly that there were imaginary blank spaces in my head. What season was it? Was it summer? Spring? Morning? Afternoon? Dusk? There wasn't much dialog, and most of it was good except for the two stereotypical hunter guys who raped Meg. Their dialog was choppy and so "pastiche" that I actually winced. Were these guys hunters? Where were their guns? Were they hikers? What were they doing there? Two guys out hiking? Really? And if the path nearby was so frequently traveled that Steve expected someone to come along any time now, would they really have THREE FRICKEN HOURS to rape Meg? Would they dare? How would it look with two big guys raping a tied up girl? I can hear sirens right now. Oh yeah, explain that one Stevie. But hey, maybe you'll be allowed to watch the ass rapes in prison - with a mirror.

Okay, in the end this story still deserved a pretty decent rating despite some really warped and questionable views on the nature of reality, pissed off husbands, and redneck country bumpkins, but all in all I still got a hard on. One last mention about the author's pseudonym: Helena Troy. Oh my...the comments I could make! I so want to meet her. So in the end this one ranks a six on a scale of one to ten.
